Flourisihing of Talent
Chapter 1 - Flourishing of talent
1. Februar 2023 - Benedikt Basso
A few seconds are usually enough to determine whether we like a work of art or not. What could be the reason that some works of art interest us more than others? Does interest begin with understanding a work of art or is it aroused when one learns why and how this work was created by the artist?

When it is art?
Usually, works of art are not created out of a momentary inspiration. The statement of a painting often depends on several factors: starting with the format of the painting, to the focus and the relationship of individual picture elements to each other. The colours, the angle of view, the light, the shadow and the hidden symbolism reinforce the artist’s attitude towards the subject of the painting.
Besides the interest in a work of art, it is above all exciting to learn where, when and why it was created. The history of the creation of a work of art as well as the artist’s motives are what have maintained the fascination for art for centuries.
However, the question arises whether only works of art from the past can trigger such enthusiasm. Isn’t the reality that contemporary art also tells stories? Aren’t there currently numerous talented artists who are writing history(s) with their works of art? I am firmly convinced of that.

Our Vision
With the épa-galerie, we want to offer artists a platform where they can show themselves and their art. Together with you, we want to create a community that enables an open exchange about art, offers space for different interpretations, thoughts, inspirations and emotions and, above all, unites the love of art. To all the artists out there, show yourselves! Tell us the stories behind your art.
The term épa is an abbreviation of the word épanouissement and figuratively stands for the flourishing of talent and describes the vision of épa-galerie in its entirety.
What are we engaged in?
Our focus is mainly on artists and art of the present and future. Whether painting, digital illustrations, sculpture, installations and much more – there is something for everyone. In order to appreciate what awaits us in the present and the future, it is important to take a look at the past as well. With some past representatives of art history from the styles of the Etruscans, the Southeast Asians, Mannerism, religious art, Realism, Impressionism, Abstraction, for example, past art history is to be told in a way that is tangible for everyone. Building on this, today’s art can be treated with appreciation.
